Blizzard Sunday for Mosaic Monday!

Here on Long Island, Sunday morning, we woke up to a Winter Wonderland! Joining Mary from the Little Red House for another fun Mosaic Monday! Check out the Little Red House for more mosaics!

These pictures were taken during the evening and what we woke up to on Long Island! A forecast of two inches on Long Island causes panic and the grocery stores to be empty of all essentials. Imagine a blizzard?

We all have our own essentials during a snow emergency. Mine just happens to be Hot Chocolate and cookies! To each his own. My friend was in a store before a hurricane one time and stocking up, her cart was filled with wine, cheese and crackers and someone said, "hey lady, aren't you getting emergency supplies?" and she said "these are my emergency supplies!"

My husband and my son have a long morning of clearing us out. I would help, of course, but someone has to make breakfast! Waiting for them will be a big plate of scrambled eggs, pancakes, bacon and hot chocolate!

Lots of fun in a foot or two of snow...

Not so much fun in a foot or two of snow...

and he's had enough for one day...

and in the end, a steaming cup of hot chocolate for those who brave the snow and clear a path...

  1. Cute post and photos. I love the emergency supplies of Wine, Cheese and crackers. But then the cookies and hot chocolate sound good too. We had 18 inches of snow , it started Friday night lasted until last night.

  4. Now that's an unusual site for you, isn't it! I love the picture in your first mosaic where the snow looks like waves. Dogs just love snow for some reason. I'm with the wine, cheese and crackers lady! Good luck with the cleanup, Carol.

  5. I'm another who's shopping cart would be like that wine lady's cart! Love your pics of the snow and the puppies - we got 12 inches in Jersey - Ken measured - hard to find a place without drifts to measure.

  6. Isn't it neat how snow can make anything a work of art! Thanks for the pics! Poor little Max, lol.

I'd love a cup of your hot chocolate! Have never made the real thing.

I can vouch for the critical need of plenty of wine during hurricanes!

  7. Well sweetie - glad it is you and not me!! LOL

I'll confess, the snow does look pretty BEFORE humans decide to trample all over it...

The pups look like they arf (lol) having a wonderful time, but Max looks like he would rather enjoy the warmth of the inside!

To each her own as far as emergency supplies..I go for the wine and crakers lady!!

  8. It's been awhile since we had this much snow. In fact, last time, we were living in the back pasture at the farm and no one could get in or out for four days! Luckily we had plenty of wine and cheese!;-)

  9. Oh my gosh, that's a lotta snow! I'm a CA girl and can't even imagine! I'd definitely want some hot chocolate in that situation :)

  10. WOW! Your dogs seem happy to have the snow...you sure got dumped on! I talked to my sister in Vermont and they didn't get any, which is pretty unusual for that area. I want to have a foot for Christmas but doesn't seem likely this year.

  11. Carol, the snow is gorgeous ... looks like the dogs are really enjoying it. ... but not little Max. It's probably too cold for his little tummy since he's lower to the ground than the other two.

Crackers, cheese, wine, good summer sausage, and bread and butter pickles are my husband's idea of survival food. I go for Coke and cookies.

Fixing breakfast was a better deal than clearing the snow. You're a smart one. :)

  12. I so do not have snow envy. I'm with your husband on food stuffs. Carbonated anything comes out as carbonated air... :(

  16. I guess it's the East coast turn. Last christmas we were in 4 feet of snow and no one went anywhere! I thought it was beautiful for awhile but three weeks was more than enough. I hope you have a Merry holiday and that you never run out of hot chocolate. Sharon

  21. What a white winter wonderland for sure! It's so pretty when it's clean & fresh ;~)
I remember our Husky used to get balls of snow stuck in the pads of her feet. But she loved romping all over in it.

I must confess...I even miss the shoveling, yeh, I'm sick!

  27. Yikes! My daughter in NYC is holed in for the duration! I hope she can get out on the 23rd to come here.
When we lived in Michigan years ago, we had a Yorkie years who bounded outside after a storm like this one. Imagine his surprise when he disappeared into a drift.
    Merry snowy Christmas to you!

  28. Carol, you finally got your snow! I remember all last winter you wishing for some :) I know it is a major hassle to scoop out from under but your photos are beautiful. I love the snow caps on the shrubs and especially the pattern the snow made on the patio furniture. Poor little Max is first snowfall.
